Description
EnZo PK70 Folder (Scandi Grind, Green Micarta Scales)
Small, non-locking folder from Finish brand EnZo, the PK70 has a traditional Scandi grind and strong, durable scales in Green Micarta. The deep-pocket carry clip in satin finish steel ensures discrete storage until called upon. Specifically designed for UK legal carry, the PK 70 has a short, strong blade that does not lock, and it requires two hands to open.
The blade is 2.5 mm thick S30V steel, about 70 mm long with a non-locking slipjoint mechanism held in place by the back spring. It requires a firm pressure to release the blade and start closing the folder, like the pocket knives of old. The smallest folder in the EnZo family, the PK 70 presents the familiar EnZo build quality in a small, discrete package totaling 160 mm.
Note that this is a true scandi-to-zero grind, in a hard "super steel" which may need a small secondary bevel added for use in Australia where wood is generally harder than in Scandinavia. If the thin, razor sharp edge get minor chips with use, sharpen in a micro-bevel like on the flat grind versions. This is easliy done on any knife sharpening kit or by hand with a sharpening stone.
From EnZo:
The PK70 is sweet to the eye and would be just as comfortable in the office, as it would in the field. The simple slip joint mechanism with a distinct half-open stop coupled with a 70 mm blade is designed for easy opening and safe handling. Rock solid construction built to last, this may be the last knife you'll ever need. The PK70 was specifically designed to comply with the strict rules and regulations, necessary for legal carry, in the UK and other European countries. As always, you can depend on the excellence built into every EnZo product we design. Second generation: Clip screws are countersunk.

More details on S30V steel:
CPM S30V
Made by US based Crucible, CPM S30V (often simply referred to as S30V) steel has excellent edge retention and resists rust effortlessly. It was designed in the US and is typically used for the high-end premium pocket knives and expensive kitchen cutlery. The introduction of vanadium carbides brings extreme hardness into the steel alloy matrix. Dollar for dollar, this is generally regarded as one of the finest knife blade steels with the optimal balance of edge retention, hardness and toughness. Note S30V now has a slightly better looking brother in S35VN which is distinctly similar but easier for manufacturers to work with thanks to niobium. Still, S30V is pretty common these days and one of our favorites.
More background on CPM steels:
CPM stands for Crucible Particle Metallurgy which is a process for manufacturing high quality tool steels. American Crucible Industries is the sole producer of CPM steels which are formed by pouring the molten metal through a small nozzle where high pressure gas bursts the liquid stream into a spray of tiny droplets. These droplets are cooled, solidified into a powder form and then hot isostatically pressed (HIP) where the powder is bonded and compacted. The trick here is that the HIP process ensures each of the fine particles have a uniform composition without any alloy segregation. All this results in a steel that has improved toughness, wear resistance and can be ground and heat treated with maximum effect.
